Recently I had the opportunity to visit the lavender garden of a nice lady in a town nearby. She hosted a festival for the third consecutive year bringing artists and artisans together into her beautiful lavender garden. Since I didn’t know not only the soil but the weather conditions here in Michigan are the best to grow lavender, I started my adventure trying to find this beautiful and aromatic plant. I have to say that I’ve being in love with lavender since I was a child, and seeing the fields in Tuscany and Provence was a spectacular scenario, so having those plants in my garden was a must!
I finally was able to find them at my local home improvement store, I bought 8 and they are already planted on the front of my house. So today I took a couple of stems of this aromatic flower and started this little painting for today.
Needless to say, that nice lady from the near by town that has that beautiful lavender garden is the owner of Gabriel’s Garden Lavender a cute little store in down town Romeo right here in Michigan, 15 minutes away from my studio, who features the work of local artists and artisans, and which will start offering some of my Provence, Tuscany and Spain daily paintings starting next week. So if you live near by or happen to be in town, stop by and make sure to buy something with lavender to complement your little original daily painting from Provence =]
