I fell in love with paintings of still lives with really dark shadows and really light areas. I painted an orange and a paper bag a few days ago for a juried competition, and I fell in love with the results, so I’m finding myself waiting for tat strong sunlight coming through my kitchen window at noon to arrange my fruits and veggies to photograph them as a reference for my works. There is certainly no light box that could provide me with this effect. This painting is going to Chelsea Gallery as soon as is dry enough to ship. A couple of eggplants, the original white one and the most popular one (my favorite) the dark, really dark almost black purple one against a wall with really intense light and shadows.
