The Laida beach is one of the most famous beaches in the north of Spain for surfers, but it is also a good beach for the public as well, if you like a beach where the waters “walk”. You heard it right, the sea tide goes up and down so fast that in a matter of minutes the water would reach you on the shores if you are too close.
We visited this beautiful beach while we were living there back in 2004, and that’s when I took the picture for this painting. Mother and daughter just standing there, looking at their feet, I guess they were seeing how fast the water was raising or how fast they were sincking in the sand perhaps? The little girl next to them was looking also at their feet as if she was waiting for something to happen.
I’ll be traveling to Spain in a few weeks, to visit the friends and family we left there and to gather more inspiration for more works. I’m planning to take my easel and paintings with me and hopefully being able to keep offering my daily paintings straight from Bilbao one more time.
