Peaceful Morning at the Laida Beach, Spain

Oil on Gessoed Hardboard (Masonite)
10″ high x 8″ wide

I was finally able to finish the painting! I had to work extra on the umbrella. For some reason I was having trouble with the actual drawing, so after redrawing the exact perspective of the umbrella, I was finally able to finish it. The original umbrella on the picture I took was white with blue pocodots, but for some reason I didn’t quite like it as it rendered the whole scene too “plain” so after a while I thought it would be good to have an orange umbrella instead, yet still not quite what I wanted. A little yellow here and white there and I was able to go for the look I had in mind. Sometimes, not very often thankfully, a few color changes need to me made in order to bring to life the first stricking image we saw in first place.

Now I’m going out to plant some 300 tulip bulbs that are waiting for me, and hopefully I’ll be able to start the second piece for this juried exhibition at the Lawrence St. Gallery. If accepted the pieces will be delivered to the gallery in about a week. If you are interested in purchasing the paintings please contact the gallery directly.

Thank you for looking!
