“Going in” – second
Oil on Gessoed Hardboard (Masonite)
6″ high x 6″ wide

There was something about the water I didn’t like on the previous version of this painting (see below) so I decided to go to sleep and see if in the morning I was feeling the same way. Fair enough, I didn’t like it either when I woke up, so I worked on it a little more. The water on the first one looked too calm, somehow I changed the way the ocean looked as I was focusing more on the wave that was breaking out in front of the girl and forgot about the other waves that were behind, plus the water on my picture reference looked more greenish not grayish, so I changed the tone of the water as well. Sometimes is a matter of just stepping away from the painting long enough to see what was wrong with it that we didn’t quite like in the first place.
