I have loved so much this scene since I snapped the picture on one of our road-trips to France in 2005, that this is the third painting I’ve done so far. I feel like Monet, painting the same haystacks over and over again. The combination of the purple-bluish sky with the golden haystacks and field is something I really love about this particular scene. It reflects that so called golden hour which I’ve referenced in many of my landscape paintings of previous years, in which the sky is turning to the night yet the sun in the horizon is still bright enough to bathe with light all the buildings, objects and greenery it can touch while tinting the sky with a lovely purple-violet color. I don’t go out too much anymore, family and kids mainly keep me at home more than I would like to, but just looking at this painting and the picture reference is enough to give me the feeling of being outside enjoying the moment.
