Glorious Afternoon

Oil on 1/8″ deep Hardboard / Óleo sobre tabla
7″ high x 5″ wide / 17.8 x 12.7 cm

I’m a freak for shadows. They give the necessary atmosphere to any painting and the lack of it ruins the scene completely. I’m fascinated by the incredible amount of color they cast depending on the surface, time of the day, weather conditions and the time of the year. This scene is from near my moms home in Italy. A young vineyard missing the cool afternoon shadow cast by the trees on the other side of the sandy road.

Hi Patricia!
Thank you!
I had my doubts on the new greens I picked for the vineyards, but in the end it came out really nice, just what I was going for despite a shaky hand.

Thank you for stopping by!
