Water Carriers

Oil on 3/8″ deep Hardboard
6″ high x 6″ wide

These two kids I found at the lake on Stoney Creek Park here in Michigan were extremely busy filling the recently opened hole they made in the sand. A pool, you would guess, well more or less. I kept staring at them because they were very into it. It was not a game of any sort, they both looked very inspired and very determined to fill the hole bucket by bucker of water. They kept both going back and forth each one carrying its own bucket.

I dont know how I missed this. This is really sweet. Great play on shadow with hot traces of sunlight on their bodies. Nice work. (I love her little bikini! That is typical of little girls that age.)

Hi Manuela,
Just me lurking around again. I keep coming back to this painting. I love these kids. I think only a Mommy can really appreciate this work for what it means. It’s a painting of the heart.

Hi Vikki!
Yes, it is, I know exactly what you mean. I loved seeing my kid playing in the sand. My oldest son is almost 17 now, but I sure remember when he was 5 or 7 years old, he would spend hours playing in the sand, very into it, and I would stare at him trying to imagine what he was thinking, what was in his mind. These kids in this moment reminded me that beautiful time with him which I’m now enjoying again with my youngest one who’s 5.
Glad you stopped by! ;o)
