While living in Bilbao, Spain back in 2004, we took the time to visit as many beaches as we could. The kids loved it, we loved it and my library of inspiration for my paintings became huge.

In one of those adventures we landed at Ibarrangelu "Playa de Laga" (Laga beach) in northern Spain. It's a beautiful but quite annoying beach, if you're a tourist that is. The tide goes up and down in such a spectacular way, that it becomes a nuisance for those making the mistake of wanting to lay their towels close to the shore, making it an incredibly funny sight for those of us patiently waiting from afar.

On this beach, on one of those occasions, I spotted this little girl playing in the sand, wearing the cutest little pink hat, and green swimming bottoms holding a red plastic beach shovel, looking to see if she could spot her mom.
